The Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Udayachal Schools turned out to be a momentous occasion thanks to the visit of His Excellency Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. It was indeed a dream come true as there was an atmosphere of untold joy and delight. Dr. Kalam was accompanied by Mr. Mohammad Fazal – Governor of Maharashtra and Mr. Vasant Purke – Minister for Education.
The Godrej family welcomed the President and his entourage to the Udayachal schools. As they walked along the lush green surroundings of the schools, the children, the staff members of Udayachal and the invitees were filled with a sense of immense pride.
It was truly a memorable occasion when Dr. Kalam spent his precious time going through the Pre-Primary School enjoying the varied activities children participated in. He was impressed to see tomorrow’s young scientists exploring the wondrous world of ‘Sound’ in the Science Corner. He saw the budding young artists at work and much to the delight of the children; he heartily joined the celebrations by painting a rocket for them. He was then invited to view the projects displayed by the teachers covering various topics. The little children eagerly responded to his questions. But the highlight of the celebrations surely must have been the visit to the Music Hall. The President’s fascination for music was apparent by the keen interest shown by him, especially towards the innovative musical instruments made from waste. The children too had a good time playing to the President.
Dr. Kalam’s interaction with the Primary and High School children began with his words of inspiration beckoning children to dream and he encouraged them to translate these dreams into action through hard work and perseverance. The President then went down memory lane by sharing with the children memorable experiences of his school life. He endeared himself to the children when he answered their curious questions with a lot of patience. Children’s questions covered various domains ranging from economic and social issues affecting our country to a personal sharing of his hobbies and happiest moments. Dr. Kalam enthralled the entire gathering, especially children, with his genuine warmth.
The Udayachal Schools shall forever cherish the pleasant memories of Dr. Kalam having spared his valuable time to visit them and spurring their Golden Jubilee celebrations to new heights. |
